As is done every year, the Oxnard Chamber Board of Directors held a planning session at the end of October. This is a once a year look at what the organization does, where its focus is, and what adjustments need to be made to benefit the membership. The top outcomes from this year's session were: • Consolidate and re-think events • Step up our communications regarding the benefits of membership • Increase membership We will be kicking off 2017 with some changes to our programming. The Board decided to eliminate the monthly breakfast events. However, to continue to offer valuable information and networking opportunities, the Chamber will be adding lunch programs in the months we do not have a special event. An example would be in January we have our Annual Meeting & Installation of Directors, so there would not be another lunch program. Since there is not a special event in February, we will have a lunch meeting. We are eliminating the showcase or expo events we previously held semi-annually. However, we will have exhibitor space available at our regular lunch meetings. Regarding the Chamber's communication of its value and benefits to stakeholders, we are forming an ad hoc committee to study this closer. Oxnard Chamber members may see more frequent surveys from this group. Membership growth is an ongoing effort. Ventura County's lackluster economy is reflected in the reduction of active members in the Oxnard Chamber. A number of Directors have volunteered to help with our endeavor to grow membership.
