Channel Islands Social Services is an amazing company and was a blessing to be a part of. I worked on the administrative team for almost 8 years and can truly say this family owned and operated business has a heart for serving people with disabilities.

I would highly recommend this agency for any family seeking out both respite and ILS services in Ventura County.

Channel Island Social Services is an amazing company to work for. I worked as part of the admin staff in the HR department for 3 years and can say I got to go home each day knowing I made a difference. If you have a family member that can benefit from the services provided by CISS I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. Each admin member takes great pride in the work they do to assist each family get their own caregiver hired or to hire and match somebody to them. If you want to work for a company that is so much more than just a 9-5 then I highly suggest you research CISS and what they stand for.

Working with this agency has been a game changer for our family! We have been fortunate to have the same caregiver for the past 2 years and he is terrific! Not only is he considerate, reliable, and friendly but he has built a great rapport with our son. This has been so beneficial for our son's self esteem. Additionally, it has been a welcomed break for my husband and I to be able to get away for an evening and have the peace of mind that our son is in good hands. Channel Islands Social Services respite care has been a sanity-saver! AND, the CISS respite providers have always been more than just respite; they've respected and mentored my son, helped him enjoy his life, and helped him become a secure and social young man during that respite time (and beyond). My son considers his respite providers as part of his circle of friends, and rightfully so. They've cared about him outside of respite time and long after they were his providers. Beyond "respite" for me, I've enjoyed real peace of mind during that time, knowing that my son was being appreciated for the awesome human being that he is, through real relationships.
There's no better respite than that.

Seeing the happy smiling faces brings me joy. The best part of working with this company, is I get to go the the homes and I don't need to report in an office. I couldn't be happier with this agency they are very professional and have great caregivers working for them! Our caregiver has been with our son for many years and she is wonderful! This agency is the BEST agency I have ever had! This Agency hire qualified caregivers and they give them the proper training that they need for our children to be safe and well taken care of. Anytime I call the agency and I have questions they are very professional and have the best attitude and are prompt to take care of any question that we have. I have nothing but positive things to say about this agency and anyone that I come across that has a child with special needs I always recommend this agency before any of the other ones that I've used because of our families experience with them! Where do I start?! This agency has been a life saver for our family. We started with a different agency that was fine for about a month until I noticed the respite workers not really doing much. One guy even sat on the couch the entire time working on his computer! I finally found someone through Care.com and they were hired by this 'other' agency but I had to supplement their pay because $10 hr is just crazy, especially if they're good! When I found Channel Islands and read their reviews, found out they pay much more, I gave them a whirl. Wow! The difference is night and day. Everyone they've sent has been reliable, professional and caring. The staff at the office is always quick to reply and quick to help. I highly recommend CISS.

I can't recommend this agency enough. They are personal and caring. The administration office has frequently checked in to see how our family is doing during the pandemic. The caregivers are experienced and loving. They do all they can to find a perfect fit for the client if you don't already have a caregiver. Additionally, they provide good communication which I didn't have with the other respite service. You can also tell they treat their employees well, which reflects on the care you receive.
